Diana and I strive to unveil the creativity that's woven into this city's community with SPRUCE. We're continuously amazed by the talented artists here at home; and while we admit our closets are full of clothes and oddities produced overseas, nothing quite beats our appreciation for locally made goods and the sustainable quality that comes with the dedication local designers put into their craft.

With the holidays around the corner, I've compiled a little list of thoughtful, domestically made things for a lady in your life. Why not support local while gifting something beautiful?

WINSOME | Easy Care Silk Top: $100

Kathryn Sterner Sieve, the designer, simplifies how to look polished while dressing for comfort. This 100% sand washed silk top is machine washable and has a versatile design allowing for easy day-to-night styles. In my book, anything that feels like a nightie, but is also appropriate for work and play is good on the shoulders. This gift won’t ship until February, but in the meantime your pre-holiday purchase will help Kathryn embark on a cross-country business venture to better interact with her customers and provide more transparency into her work. Add to the gift by placing a picture of the top in aWind & Willow Home Small Wooden Canister, handmade by Araya Jensen, so your friend can enjoy something special while she waits.

WIND & WILLOW | Small Wooden Canister: $29

Minneapolis designers, Preston and Angela Anderson, aim to capture modernism and simplicity with their designs, symbolizing two worlds—the city and the Northwoods—with each piece. This artisan cheese board is handmade by Preston out of solid walnut. The rich, dark grains play well against a variety of culinary spreads and the piece is finished with a natural, food safe oil, making it the perfect gift for the gourmand in your circle.

NEAL JEWELRY | Laszlo Earrings: $98

Edgy yet refined, these hand-crafted earrings would be a great addition to any jewelry collection. The designer, Lauren Neal, marries traditional styles with modern designs to create timeless pieces. These half circle earrings, cast in bronze and finished with sterling silver posts and backs, are made to last as a staple accessory.

LEATHER WORKS MN | Trifold Wallet in Leather Tan: $125

Help your lady ditch the purse on a night out with this Trifold Wallet sized with function in mind. With the adjustable closure, she’ll be able to carry even her iPhone 6 Plus in style. The wallet is handmade locally by Leather Works MN’s small team of 4 based out of lowertown, St. Paul and is inspected at every step of the manufacturing process to guarantee an excellently crafted end product.

HACKWITH DESIGN HOUSE | Peyton Top: $135

The loose fit and subtly draped sleeves on this limited-edition top add an element of sophistication to the piece and will easily compliment the addition of post-hibernating winter layers. Designed and manufactured locally in St. Paul, HDH ensures each of their pieces are made with the highest attention to detail. Only 8 Peyton Tops were produced, so check your list early. Also, you’ll avoid the hassle of guessing sizes with this one as one size fits most.

RUST AND WILLOW | 02 – The Skinny Braid: $25

Designer, Jennifer Eland, recently partnered with her father, David Morgillo, to begin Rust & Willow, a jewelry company based in upstate New York. Morgillo began making jewelry over 40 years ago, crafting simple pieces for his wife and loved ones. Today, he and his daughter have begun to repurpose material and revive Morgillo’s decades-old craft. This intertwined, braided design couldn’t better represent this family’s bond and would make a great gift for someone who’s that type of special in your life.
